When you’re in the market for a new home, there’s a lot to consider: affordability, the neighborhood amenities and the square footage of the home to name a few. However, a Trulia survey found that nearly twenty percent of Americans indicated that their dream home is located in a great school district. For those participants with children under 18, that percentage jumped to 35 percent. But even buyers who don’t have kids are looking to buy in school districts with a good reputation, as they know that it’s an important factor when reselling your home down the road.
Living in a good school district doesn’t just bring better teachers, upgraded technology and advanced test scores, it also helps preserve home values. Homes in good school districts tend to sell faster and hold their value even in economic downturns. As part of USA Today Network’s New York State School Quality Index, the Democrat and Chronicle newspaper recently unveiled a list of best public schools and school districts in Monroe County. The study found that Crane and Leary Elementary Schools, Burger and Roth Junior High Schools and Rush-Henrietta High School all made the list for top performing school systems in Monroe County.
Rush-Henrietta ranked as the No. 1 school district in Monroe County and as the No. 2 High School in the county. The new index measures every public and charter school in New York and takes into account a variety of non-academic factors as well. The rankings were based on data regarding class sizes, diversity, suspension rate, attendance rate, teacher experience and other factors.
Education is a priority at Rush-Henrietta and the school has been repeatedly recognized as top performing. It is known for its small class sizes, instructional technology and student-centered focus. It is located near Rochester, N.Y. and offers many lifestyle and recreational opportunities to families who live and work in the area.
